Randwick Bloodstock winner for Rockmount Stud

Leotie looked a filly with a future winning her maiden at Sale for Rockmount Stud owners Geoff Guest and Jill Kewish.

The Henry Dwyer trained youngster cruised home in the Ladbrokes Bet Better 2yo Maiden (1106m) on Thursday after being specked into $15.  She was racing first-up since failing on debut at Moonee Valley in February.

Brett Howard of Randwick Bloodstock (FBAA) bought Leotie for $80,000 on behalf of Rockmount Stud at the 2015 Inglis Easter yearling sale.  A three-quarter sister to Moonee Valley stakes winner Marianne, she will be freshened up before returning for a spring campaign.

“She had a good run but it nearly went pear-shaped when I couldn’t get out at the top of the straight,” jockey Chris Parnham explained.  “But once in the clear, she really hit the line.

“It’s the first time I’ve ridden her and first indications are she has ability.  She settled with cover today and I think she will develop into a nice horse over further ground.”

Leotie (2f Darci Brahma - Prairie Star by High Chaparral) is the first foal of NZ mare who won up to 2100m and she earned minor black-type in the LR Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes.

Howard also assisted with the purchase of Vostok (Starcraft) for Rockmount Stud at the 2014 Inglis Easter yearling sale for $70,000.

Vostok completed a hat-trick a Sandown last December and finished fourth in the G3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in February.  He subsequently changed stables from Peter Moody to Dwyer and is due to resume racing in readiness for a spring campaign.
